K.D. Feddersen Foundation: A Home for Old Age

="Trading for Humanity - through global trade" - this motto shaped the life of Hamburg merchant Karl Detlef Feddersen, the founder of the K.D. Feddersen Foundation. Born on July 29, 1891, in Ris, Denmark, he was a skilled merchant with a keen instinct for new business opportunities. His employees appreciated his clear leadership and at the same time his human side, which always stood by him when someone needed help. Since Karl Detlef Feddersen remained childless, he founded the K.D. Feddersen Foundation in 1958, whose aim is to care for the elderly and needy in a retirement home. After the death of Karl Detlef Feddersen in 1958, his will was implemented, which transferred the entire estate of the spouses to the foundation. In 1982, the foundation stone for the first construction phase of the present-day retirement home was laid in Hamburg-Lokstedt. Meanwhile, the complex comprises eight houses, divided into five living areas, in which an average of 217 residents live in various apartments. A team of over 206 people from seven different departments ensures the care and supply of the residents. From nurses to service offerings in the in-house restaurant, laundry, reception, a kiosk in the house to house technology and administration - a team for a common action for humanity.
